15th Annual Sports Day
The 15th Annual Sports Day of Paavai Institutions was celebrated on 04.04.13. Shri.CA. N.V. Natarajan, Chairman of Paavai Institutions, presided over the function and delivered the presidential speech.
Shri. B. Arulappa, IRS, Commissioner of Income Tax- Salem was the chief guest. The chief guest delivered keynote address. In his address, he said that students should give equal importance to sports to excel themselves in all their activities. Curriculum stops at the door-steps of the college, but the extra-curricular activities will continue to guide us all through our life. Sports teach various aspects like team work, getting along with others, working towards a common goal, with a spirit of competition. Education is stereotyped, whereas it is not so in sports. Sports help us control our temper, stress and treats both success and failure on an equal footing. Sports and games enable everyone to be a law-abiding individual and citizen. It nurtures a sense of discipline among the learners. He also informed that there are ups and downs in life and the sports and games teach us life skills. The chief guest added that students should concentrate on how to do rather than what to do. He concluded by saying, one has to improve and showcase one's strength through stories and anecdotes. He also advised the faculty members to encourage the potentials of students, especially the sports students.
The Chief guest gave away gold coins of 4 grams each to three students who achieved national level positions. He distributed trolling trophy and certificates to the winners of sports and games conducted at international, national, state, university and zone levels. He also distributed certificates and medals to those students who won at the sports competitions conducted at the college level.
Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated+ Paavai Cadet Corps(PCC) and hoisted the National Flag and accepted the salute and guard of honour. The wonderful march past by Paavai Cadre Corp students and programmes like Yoga, Pyramid by Paavai Students were the highlights of the day.
Smt. Mangai Natarajan, the Correspondent, Mr. T.R. Manisekaran, Vice-Chairman, Mr. T.R.Palanivel, Secretary, Dr. M. Ramakrishanan, Treasurer, Mr. P. Palanivel, Joint-Secretary, Deans, Directors, Principals and Faculty members were also present.
